The Northern Forest Explorers , now well into its second decade, is a summer paddling program offering multiple trips each summer. Trips generally run 5 days, 4 nights, along the Saranac and Raquette River corridors. Participants build paddling skills, practice Leave No Trace and other outdoor living skills as they travel along the NFCT.
This program is made possible with generous support from the Northern Forest Canoe Trail, Long Lake Lions Club, Long Lake Association, Long Lake Fish and Game Club, Raquette River Outfitters, and many others. Scholarships are available to ensure that everyone is welcome and able to participate on these trips.
The photographs below are all from the trips I have guided on (2016-present). I do try to be representative but if you don’t see your favorite paddler please reach out I have many more.
